Tourism project to come up near Technocity in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 12 (UNI) The Kerala Tourism Department has come out with a major project to transform Aanathazhchira near Technocity at Pallippuram here into a tourism destination, as part of the initiative to bring to fore unexplored spots to attract tourists.
The project will be implemented on 16.7 acres of land owned by the Revenue Department and the Grama Panchayat, Andoorkonam.
Revenue Minister K Rajan will hand over the title deed of the land to Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas at a function to be held at Aanathazhchira Ground at 6 pm on Wednesday.
Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil will preside over the function.
Anil, who represents the constituency, had proposed the Aanathazhchira tourism project considering the immense potential of the place and its proximity to Technocity, which has been rapidly-developing as a technology hub.
The land was handed over to the Department of Tourism following which Shri Riyas suggested its development by including it under the initiatives that came up in the Tourism Investors Meet (TIM). The Minister had assigned the project management unit formed as follow-up to the TIM to prepare the framework of the project by incorporating the possibilities of leveraging the tourism potential of the area.
The project was proposed to be implemented in PPP model. An expression of interest (EoI) for the construction activities of project that has been envisaged as ‘night life project’ will be floated in September.
The Freedom Park of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will also come up on the fringes of the project area. The park, which will have an exhibition space featuring the latest innovations of startups, will be the country’s first Startup Mission Freedom Park.
The eco-friendly project will have priority for water adventure sports, an eco-friendly park for children and a special track for bicycle ride.
